Getting Down to Business
Thanks for visiting the new website for my editorial and consulting business, which I’m playfully calling I’ll Write Already. At some point I’ll probably put together a post on how the name was born from my own years-long struggle with procrastination and the way I routinely mutter to myself, “All right already,” signaling the time for dithering is over and I need to get down to business. The desire to help writers move past the frustrated “All right already” to the affirmative action—I’ll write already!—is fundamentally what inspired me to become an editor, and what I love doing as a consultant, coach, and developmental editor.
But for now, launching this site is its own “all right already” moment. I accepted my first major consulting job with Smithsonian Books in late spring 2025. Since then, I have been very fortunate to find great clients and exciting projects largely through word of mouth, but people have also consistently asked me if I have a web site they can check out and share with others who might be interested in working together. Now, roughly a year and a half since launching out on my own, it has frankly gotten a little embarrassing that I keep telling those folks, “Oh yes, I have a URL, but I’m still working on launching the site. Stay tuned!”
So it’s time to get down to business. For the moment, the information here is a bit bare-boned, but I plan to add updates periodically about the projects and clients with whom I’m working, general notes about the writing and publishing process, and other stray musings.
The most important thing is to start!
